CalAcademy NightLife Presents: FURY

1200x900_fury.jpg

NightLife breaks the mold with a special presentation of FURY, a multimedia concert experience inspired by George Miller’s iconic movie, Mad Max: Fury Road.

Featuring a live mood driven soundtrack composed and performed by indie-pop band YASSOU and composer Kristina Dutton, and choreography by Danielle Rowe for world-class dancers who portray characters fighting for survival in a post apocalyptic world.

FURY has performed for sold-out crowds at The Midway and at August Hall in San Francisco, and now comes to NightLife on an arena stage in the East Garden for a one-night-only performance.

Inside, learn about the science of survival in drought-tolerant plants and get an inside-look at the process of creating FURY.

FURY at Tortona Big Top, Downtown Oakland

FURY for Creative Mornings.jpg

From the artistically ambitious minds at CandyBomber Productions, fan-favorite FURY is leaping across the Bay Bridge en pointe. Following two sold-out runs in San Francisco, FURY will be mounted “in the round” at Vau de Vire’s massive 12,000 sq. ft. Italian Tortona Big Top tent (yes, that’s a 12,000 square feet big top circus tent, rising in the heart of Downtown Oakland). FURY will bring sumptuous Rock-infused musical score, stunning and athletic ballet, and immersive performance to East Bay audiences for two nights only: Friday, September 13, and Saturday September 14.

Audiences will experience a layered, post-apocalyptic survival story inspired by the iconic movie, Mad Max: Fury Road.  With a love story at its core, the action is performed by stunning star dancers to mood driven music that moves between driving intensity and tender intimacy.

FURY’s diverse cast and musical inspirations reflect the heart and soul of Oakland, a city known for being one of the most culturally vibrant, multiethnic, and eclectic cities in the world.

FURY features music by indie-pop darling YASSOU, composer Kristina Dutton, cutting-edge video projection work, and visionary choreography by Danielle Rowe. In FURY, musicians and dancers are equals on stage, and turn what you thought you knew about ballet on its head. The boundary-crossing show shines in Tortona’s 360° space.

“One of the latest and maybe most audacious attempts yet to reach millennials where they live.” -- San Jose Mercury News
